REVIEW: Top 5 Products for 2011

Good day~

It's the last day of the year and with that in mind I thought of coming up with a list of products that I've loved this 2011. I read similar entries from other bloggers and here I am joining the bandwagon. I'm hoping that I don't make this into a very long blog entry and bore you though. ;)

To make up for the lack of blog entries, I will be typing a short review for these five products!

Now I present to you SUNSETGLOWLOVE's TOP 5 Products for 2011:

(L-R) Maybelline the MAGNUM volum' express super film mascara, HANSKIN Super Light Touch BB cream, Tony Moly Expert Triple BB Cream, Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm, Tonymoly Luminous Sheer Powder

5 product reviews and lots of pictures ahead!

REVIEW: L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss in 724 Iced Latte

Another hair color review for all of you! ^__^

L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss in 724 Iced Latte box
The product: L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss in 724 Iced Latte
Price: Around 500pesos, if my memory serves me right.
Rating: 9.5/10

Where I bought it: Watsons, SM Supercenter Pasig
(+): Product is very soft on the hair--even prior to the use of the conditioner, after-color conditioner is really good, was able to cover my roots, made my hair softer and shinier, easy to use, did not cause any allergic reaction/s, ammonia-free
(-): More expensive than other brands considering that it is a semi-permanent dye

Hello my dear blog!

Dear SUNSETGLOWLOVE,

I am typing this just to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you. I have a draft entry on another hair dye just waiting to be finished then I'll update you again. 2nd year of medicine has lived up to its reputation of being a zombie year. T__T

My semestral break will be in one week. I promise I will update you! I'm already thinking of products to review. I haven't even posted an entry about all the makeup I bought from Korea. *le sigh*

Until then, my dearest blog. See you. ♥

REVIEW: Studio41st Hostel

Studio41st Hostel, Seoul, South Korea
LONG BLOG ENTRY AHEAD!

My classmates and I went to Seoul, South Korea last month (June 2011). We stayed there for 8 days and 7 nights. I enjoyed our trip so much because it was a dream come true for me. I loved every minute I was there and I will definitely go back! ♥

One major factor that influenced the success and happiness of our trip was the hostel where we stayed at: STUDIO41ST HOSTEL. It was the perfect hostel in a perfect location for all of us!

The place: Studio41st Hostel
Location: 561-41 Yeonnam-Dong Mapo-Gu, 121-869 Seoul, South Korea
Price: Rates range from 90,000KRW/night to 130,000KRW/night depending on the type of room (3,600PhP-5,200PhP or US$85-US$123)
Rating: 10/10
Hostel links: their Facebook page and their website
(+):
  • great location--located in a residential area which has lots of restaurants, coffee shops and grocery marts but at the same time is very near the party scene in Hongdae!
  • CLEAN rooms and bathrooms;
  • friendly, nice, helpful and accommodating managers who can speak really good English;
  • each room is like a studio-type condominium unit--has its own kitchen, toilet&bath, computer with free internet access, sofa, refrigerator, washing machine and a small area where you can hang your clothes;
  • free breakfast;
  • free hot and cold drinking water;
  • safe and quiet at night which makes for good sleep;
  • costs less than hotels but the service and quality are even better--feels like home in Korea :)
  • offers assistance to tours and theater shows;
  • has a common room which is a good place to meet and interact with fellow visitors and staff;
  • has a rooftop with tables and chairs (and plants!) where you can drink and bond with friends;
  • the hostel and its staff are very environment-friendly;
  • the hostel and its rooms look exactly as in the pictures on the website;
  • they ask for feedback from the guests for them to improve on their services and amenities--really good most especially because they're still rather new! The owner owns other guesthouses too but this hostel is the first of its kind that he owns. ^_~

Decisions

A few days ago I was thinking about moving my blog from Blogger but because I am not adept in HTML/Programming/Web Design I opted to stay here. I decided to just keep things simple and just focus on content. ;)

I felt bad that I was unable to update my blog for a long time. Hello, it's already June and I've only had 3 blog entries since January! It's sad, really. >.<

Now I have decided to update my blog more often. The more posts, the more people I'll be able to help decide about purchasing a product or learning about something, right? "Hopefully much more in the future." is written at the top of my blog. I should utilize the things I learn from medical school to help inform others... although writing isn't really one of my strengths. But then again the more I write, the better I should get, right? Hopefully! Haha. I think I'm rambling to myself here. :))

I promise to post another blog entry before this week ends! I bought a new digital camera 2 weeks ago so I hope I'd be able to use it for blogging purposes too. My camera phone does a good job at taking pictures but I believe it's no match for an actual digital camera. ^.^

My classmates and I will be going to Seoul, South Korea this Saturday and we'll be staying there for a week. I AM SO EXCITED! I will definitely blog about it so as to immortalize the memory not only in my brain but in cyberspace too! ♥

Well, that is all for now. Annyeong! v(^__^)v

REVIEW: Revlon Colorsilk Luminista Golden Brown

Photo taken from the Revlon website

[LONG BLOG ENTRY--LOTS OF PICTURES]

The product: Revlon Colorsilk Luminista 120 Golden Brown
Price: Approximately 425pesos. A tad more expensive than the Revlon Colorsilk line.
Rating: 9/10 (I seem to be a high rater. Guess I'm easy to please. ^__^)
Where I bought it: PCX in Greenbelt but I believe this is now available in department stores and in Watsons
(+): Ammonia-free, product's odor was tolerable, was able to lighten my hair significantly, no allergic reactions, after-color conditioner is superb, easy to prepare/mix ingredients, clear and easy to follow instructions
(-): Tricky to apply on one's own hair--may need a bit of practice for this, despite it being ammonia-free it still did some damage on my hair but nothing conditioner and hair treatments can't fix

REVIEW: IN2IT Make up Remover

IN2IT Makeup Remover bottles
IN2IT Makeup Remover description and price
click on the photos to enlarge them
The product: IN2IT make up remover
Price: 199.75pesos
Rating: 9/10
Where I bought it: SM Megamall Department Store
(+): removes light to moderate makeup effortlessly, doesn't leave any oily residue, leaves skin soft and smooth, smells nice, easy to use, no allergic reactions, non-acnegenic (didn't cause pimples to form on my face)
(-): a low-viscosity product so you can't apply it directly on your face--you must first apply it on a cotton pad/ball (as is written on the directions) but even in doing that the fluid doesn't get absorbed easily so it tends to drip; can't remove heavy makeup totally in just one wipe, for heavy makeup it would be good to wipe your whole face twice

IN2IT Makeup Remover ingredientsIN2IT Makeup Remover description

I bought a new bottle of this make up remover last week because my first bottle is almost empty. I like using this make up remover because it doesn't leave my skin feeling oily but still my skin feels moisturized after wiping it with this. This makes it easy to wash my face afterwards. Make up removers that leave the face feeling oily make it difficult for me to wash it off--I end up washing my face twice just to remove the oily residue.

This is my make up remover for everyday use. If I use heavy make up then I turn to Pond's cold cream for deep cleansing. I use a different eye and mascara make up remover although IN2IT has an eye make up remover too. I have yet to try that one. :)

I highly recommend this product for quick, gentle and effective make up removal. :)

I'm A Very Busy Bee

It has been almost a month since I last posted an entry here on my blog. Don't think that I've abandoned this already, I haven't and I won't. :) Actually I often think about posting new reviews and whatnot but I just don't have the luxury of time to type up a decent entry as of late. As is usual with medical schools, we are very busy and the coming week is going to be the ultimate experience of that--lecture and lab exams, quizzes, SGDs (small group discussions), group and individual papers, video presentations... :|

Maybe I'll get some time off, like during a study break, to come up with an entry but it'll be purely text. Taking pictures and uploading on the computer takes some time soooo yeah. :)

I have so much I want to share! ROAR. Anyway I hope you're all doing well. :)
