Review: The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes

The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes
The product: The Face Shop's Herb Day Cleansing Wipes
Price: 325pesos for 70 sheets
Rating: 8/10
Where I bought it: The Face Shop, Robinsons Galleria
(+):
  • Functions as a good remover of light to moderate coverage makeup
  • Cleanses without leaving my skin dry; it also doesn't make my skin feel sticky
  • The sheet is big enough to use on my entire face.
  • Each sheet is soaked just right--wet enough to easily wipe my face without dripping.
  • Did not cause any allergic reactions
  • Has a pleasant, non-irritating scent
  • The cap/lid is functional. There is also a sticker underneath the lid which further prevents the sheets from drying up.
(-):
  • The sheets can be a bit rough especially when they're not as wet as they originally were due to several wipes done on the face. Because of this, excessive wiping/rubbing can scratch the skin. But then again you have to be gentle in wiping your skin, you're not supposed to rub it, so this shouldn't be a problem :)
  • This cannot remove mascara thoroughly. For non-waterproof mascaras, you need to do a few more gentle wipes on your eyes to cleanse them adequately. For waterproof mascaras, you're better off using an eye makeup remover.
I find this pack of cleansing wipes very convenient, quick and easy to use. On its packaging it doesn't indicate that it's for makeup removal but on the Face Shop's website, the product description says:
"A soft and clean tissue for cleansing, which contains rosemary extracts and herb complex, washes off thick makeup, with a feeling of light touch."
The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes description and ingredients
When I go to school or to the mall, I usually use BB cream, concealer, powder and mascara. There have been many times that I'd be so tired when I get home, tempting me to go straight to sleep without washing my face! Ahh, the horror! That is just wrong, haha. The convenience of using this product gives me no excuse to be lazy in cleaning my face though! So on days that I am too tired to do my "beauty ritual," (hahahaha) I grab one sheet, wipe my make up off, quickly wash my face and go to sleep!

The lid and the sticker which keep your wipes from drying up.  Look at that sheet. It doesn't look very smooth, right? But it still does a good job!
Like I said previously, this is effective in removing light to moderate makeup. For heavy, waterproof foundation/makeup, I suggest using cold cream, cleansing oil or other heavy duty makeup removers. You can opt to use a wipe after that step and prior to washing your face to ensure total makeup removal.
I finished one pack of this several months ago and despite liking it a lot, I bought other cleansing wipes from other Korean brands to compare with this one. I've tried wipes from Tony Moly, Etude House and Nature Republic which are all locally available but this Herb Day Cleansing Wipes beats them all, hands down. The one I got from Nature Republic is more expensive than this one with even less number of sheets. The one from Tony Moly is cheaper but didn't do a satisfactory job. The Etude House one caused an allergic reaction on my skin. On a side note, I got to try makeup remover wipes from Innisfree when I visited Korea last year; I liked it a lot too but Innisfree isn't locally available yet, if I'm not mistaken. So after having been able to try several brands of wipes, I've decided to stick with this one. :)
Notes:
  1. Remove your makeup before going to bed, no matter how tired or sleepy you are. Rid your skin of accumulated oil, dirt, and makeup so your pores won't get clogged. This will help prevent the formation of comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) and of acne.
  2. Do not rub or wipe your skin excessively using this or any other material. Again, you may end up scratching your skin.
  3. Be extra gentle when using this on your eye area. Remember that the skin on the periocular area (surrounding the eyes) is the thinnest on the body. It is prone to premature sagging as well as line/wrinkle formation when subjected to rubbing and tugging.
