The product: James Cooper Jazzy Collection Kissproof Lipgloss in Pink Red (LKP-07 017-PINK RED)
Price: 299PHP
Where I bought it: SM Megamall Department Store
Rating: 8/10
(+):
- Highly pigmented so only a little amount is needed to color the lips
- Color is BOLD. I like it that way. :)
- Dries matte - totally no shine or shimmer at all
- It is kissproof to some extent. I've only kissed my hand though... (My dear boyfriend, come back soon please! Oops LOL)
- This particular color suits my skin tone well - view the full blog entry to see photos ;)
- No weird smell and taste
- Doesn't cause my lips to crack and/or bleed
- No irritation, no allergies
- Doe foot applicator is able to color the lips precisely - I don't find the need to use a lip liner
- Lasts around 4 - 5 hours before the need to touch up
- Inexpensive
- Product comes in a classy plastic packaging (the box, well, that's another story)
- Production and expiration dates are printed on the box.
(-):
- The formula is drying. Like I stated above, it dries matte--there is truly no hint of moisture. If dryness of the lips is a problem of yours, this product may not be good for you.
- I personally find it okay though. My lips aren't dry, perhaps because I always use lip balm. I've used this with and without applying lip balm underneath and I liked it either way. :)
- It can emphasize the lines and flakiness of dry lips.
- The box can still be improved. I'm not really feeling the pink to black gradient. The silver font color on a part of the box with a white-to-gray background makes it hard to read the product's complete name. (Photos below!)
- The product name is misleading. It calls itself a lip gloss but it isn't glossy at all. It's actually a liquid lipstick. :)
- The product has a slight tendency to transfer most especially if it hasn't dried up completely yet.
- The actual color is darker than what's visible on the tube. You need to swatch this on at least your skin to see its true color.

The swatch on the left is still wet since I applied too much at the top. The one on the right is only 80% dry haha. |
You know what, when I was younger I didn't really like my full lips. I actually envied girls who had thinner lips back then. I shied away from darker lip color because I thought they gave undue emphasis on my lips. As I grew up though, I also grew to appreciate them and now I actually believe that the fullness of my lips makes bold colors like this one standout even more. :)
Here are some photos of myself with the lip color on. I think this will give you a better idea on how it actually looks like together with the rest of my face. :))
Notes:
- You can use a lip balm prior to using this product. I tried using a lip balm on top of this but it only made the lip color flake and disappear.
- Exfoliate your lips and keep them moisturized. What I do is after I brush my teeth, I gently slide my toothbrush on my lips to remove the dry, flaky layer. I use lip balm afterwards.
- This lip color is difficult to remove with tissue alone. I use my makeup remover wipes to remove it and it works like a charm. You may also opt to use lip and eye makeup removers.
- Oily food can make this lip color disappear so be careful when you're eating something oily. This color doesn't leave a stain. It simply disappears.
